NTT DATA and ENGIE Power Up Data Center Pact

NTT DATA and ENGIE are pairing renewable power with data center expansion across the UK, Netherlands and Germany.

NTT DATA and ENGIE are tying data center growth more closely to renewable power, announcing a strategic partnership on July 29 covering infrastructure in the UK, the Netherlands and Germany. The agreement combines ENGIE’s energy operations with NTT DATA’s technology services as the companies seek long-term electricity supplies for expanding data center and AI infrastructure.

Working agreements are already in place across all three markets, supporting NTT DATA’s expansion plans in Europe. A Corporate Power Purchase Agreement is part of the arrangement, drawing electricity from a 24 MW RE100-compatible wind farm in South Wales and supplying NTT DATA data centers through September 2030.

“This CPPA is the result of a deep understanding of NTT DATA's needs, demonstrating how a collaborative approach can deliver innovative solutions and sustainable infrastructure to support long-term growth and decarbonization ambitions,” said Miya Paolucci, CEO of ENGIE UK. Nicolas Lefèvre-Marton, Group Vice President for Data Center Acceleration and Strategy Partnerships at ENGIE, called the agreement “an exciting synergy between our industries, with both parties working to address the energy requirements of the data and AI revolution with renewable and sustainable solutions.”

For NTT DATA, the partnership also reflects a broader constraint facing data center operators as AI infrastructure expands: access to electricity is becoming as important as physical capacity. Chief Sustainability Officer David Costa said the deal “reflects our belief that energy transition and AI transformation must advance together.”

Financial terms were not disclosed. The power supply agreement runs through September 2030.
