Beamr Bets on Smaller Files and Sharper Frames

Beamr joined the VAST Cosmos partner program on September 8 and showed the NVIDIA-accelerated joint pipeline at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam.

Beamr Imaging joined the VAST Cosmos Community as a technology partner on September 8, 2026, pairing its video compression work with VAST Data's platform. The partnership is aimed at broadcasters and content owners building video workflows on NVIDIA GPU acceleration.

The collaboration made its public debut days later at IBC 2026 in Amsterdam, which ran from September 11 to 14. At stand 1.D22 in Hall 1, the two companies demonstrated the VAST AI Operating System, NVIDIA Video Super Resolution and Beamr's content-adaptive video technology working as a single pipeline.

Video Super Resolution upscales lower-resolution material to 1080p or 4K. Running end to end on NVIDIA RTX PRO GPUs, the pipeline can modernize media assets to the HEVC or AV1 codecs. Beamr's content-adaptive bitrate technology, covered by 53 patents, produces files up to 50 percent smaller than standard encoding.

Reach matters as much as the technology. The workflow supports on-premises, private cloud and public cloud deployments, and customers on Amazon Web Services and Oracle Cloud Infrastructure can access it. Still, the IBC demonstration was the first time the collaboration was shown to the broadcast and media market.

Beamr had signalled the direction in August. On August 5, 2026, the company announced separately that it was integrating NVIDIA Video Super Resolution into existing production and delivery chains for live sports and broadcast video, with IBC 2026 listed as a planned demonstration venue. As a VAST Cosmos technology partner, Beamr now plans joint go-to-market initiatives around video and data workflows.
